Work at Height Permit Writers (WAHPW01)
Course Aim
This course is aimed at personnel who are required to issue working at height permits to staff or contractors. Each delegate will gain knowledge and skills that will enable them to audit received RAMS and produce a suitable permit to work at height. Delegates will develop a safe system of work including a risk assessment, rescue plan and permit for a given real life scenario during the training session.
All courses will be delivered in English.
Delegates can attend our purpose-built Training Academy in Sheffield or subject to a suitable room being available, it can be delivered in your normal place of work.

Course Contents
- Relevant regulations & legislation (Work at Height Regulations 2005)
- Hierarchy of Working at Height
- Working at height categories
- Correct types of personal fall protection equipment (PFPE) including inspection criteria
- Anchor points – horizontal and vertical personal fall protection systems
- Anchor points – eyebolts, mobile anchors
- Installed & temporary horizontal & vertical fall protection system
- Roof access, egress and associated hazards
- Suspension syncope
- Rescue planning
- Written assessment
- Practical assessment – production of a safe system of work
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the law, legislation and control measures associated with performing a task at height using a fall restraint/arrest capability.
- Select appropriate items of PPE for a given task.
- Produce & audit a safe system of work
- Identify different work at height work tasks
- Understand suitable anchor points
